Winchester has announced the launch of its new Super Match line of premium ammunition, designed specifically for competition across a wide array of shooting disciplines. This extensive offering encompasses more than ten popular rifle, shotgun, and pistol calibers, with a stated focus on absolute consistency, reliability, and results for serious competitors.

The Super Match ammunition is categorized into three distinct series: centerfire pistols, centerfire rifles, and shotguns, each engineered to address the specific demands of various competitive environments, from dynamic action shooting to long-range precision.

For centerfire pistol competitors, Winchester Super Match provides both flat nose projectiles, optimized for ultimate accuracy, and round nose projectiles, intended for optimal cycling. The 9mm Luger loads are available with both flat nose and round nose options, across multiple grain weights including 115, 124, and 147 grains. Other specific offerings include a 180-grain flat-nose .40 Smith & Wesson, a 130-grain flat-nose .38 Super Auto, and a 230-grain round-nose .45 ACP load. All pistol ammunition in the Super Match line is primed with high-sensitivity primers, designed for reliable ignition in tuned competition firearms, utilizes premium Match-grade components, and is optimized to achieve either minor or major power factors.

For dynamic rifle shooting competitions, such as 3-Gun, the Super Match line includes .223 Remington and 5.56x45mm NATO loads. These are specified to feature heavy-for-caliber, boattail hollow point (BTHP) projectiles, intended for competition readiness directly from the box.

Precision rifle competitors will find Super Match ammunition available in .308 Winchester, 7.62x51mm NATO, 6.5mm Creedmoor, 6.5 PRC, and 6mm ARC. The .308 Winchester and 6.5mm Creedmoor offerings are available with either a BTHP projectile or the new BC Max polymer tipped projectile. The 6mm ARC features a BTHP projectile, while the 6.5 PRC is loaded with the BC Max polymer tipped projectile.

The BC Max bullet, an all-new projectile from Winchester, is highlighted as being manufactured with next-generation bullet assembly equipment to deliver what the company describes as unprecedented accuracy and the highest ballistic coefficient available from the company. This focus on projectile design underscores an effort to meet the stringent demands of long-range performance.

Completing the Super Match line are three 12-gauge shotshell entries, including #7.5, 00 buckshot, and rifled slugs. These shotshells are engineered with thick-walled hulls and high brass heads, a design choice intended to maintain their shape particularly when fed from box magazine-fed shotguns, which is a key consideration for certain competitive shotgun disciplines.

Kyle Masinelli, Vice President of Manufacturing at Winchester Ammunition, stated that the Super Match line is positioned as “the answer for the competitive shooter.” Masinelli further remarked that the extensive line covers needs for all categories of dynamic action shooting competition, emphasizing its aim to deliver exceptional accuracy, reliability, and consistency. He also noted that product engineers collaborated with competition shooters during development to create the product for both competitive and recreational shooters.
